The artistic side of a facial plastic surgeon is always challenged when reconstructing the face. Following removal of skin cancers, birth deformities or trauma, many people require their delicate facial features to be repaired and reconstituted back to their originally intended form. Form follows function and the goal in rehabilitating any face that has been damaged is to restore normal esthetics and thus function. Skin grafts and local flaps can be used artfully in one or many operations to reconstruct the distorted nose, ear, eyelid or cheek...the final outcome being improved form and enhanced function. Dr. Younger is an internationally recognized speaker, teacher and author in matters of facial reconstruction, and in fact has been a member of the teaching faculty of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Seattle Soft Tissue Surgery and Facial Reconstructive Surgery course since 1988.
